-
We hear and see that the world is changing rapidly.
-
We can’t predict what the future holds.
-
Some jobs will become irrelevant.
-
Other job descriptions will be much different.
We need to prepare for what is coming.
Many aspects of the world are changing rapidly including the jobs and future occupations.
THE CHANGING WORKPLACE:
-
Machine learning algorithms can diagnose certain types of cancers better than doctors.
-
Artificial intelligence can analyze legal documents better than lawyers.
-
Intelligent systems can and will perform more tasks better than humans.
DEVELOP OUR HUMAN SKILLS:
-
Instead of trying to compete with intelligent machines, we will need to use our human skills.
-
Critical thinking, cooperation, and communication will become more important in our daily lives.
-
When doing our jobs we will need to do activities as humanely as possible.
-
By spending more time with our customers, we can figure out what their problems are and how to best solve them.
THE GLOBAL MARKETPLACE:
Also, the global marketplace will become more predominant.
Learning more about how people work internationally will enable us to thrive.
We can:
-
Take on work assignments with global exposure
-
Learn a new language; and
-
Discover more about other cultures.
We need to learn about how people work internationally.
This enables us to work in the global marketplace.
THE SKILLS:
By living and working in a more humane manner, we can make it difficult or even impossible for us to be replaced.
Self-management skills such as flexibility, resilience, and active learning will become more important.
Some of the soft skills needed for future jobs are:
-
Critical thinking;
-
Problem-solving;
-
Negotiations and reasoning;
-
Time management;
-
Resilience; and
-
Leadership and social influence.
I also agree with you on future changes. However, I think that machines can only support but cannot replace doctors. Their job requires much more than simply surgery.
