Humans tend to treat others based on how they present themselves.
-
Have discussions with youth about situations where appearance makes a difference.
Every day we are judged by how we look, how we dress, our table manners, our grooming, and demeanour.
We may often ignore how we appear to others, but others judge us by our appearance.
On a recent flight from Australia to the USA, the man behind me was wearing a big Stetson hat and a large belt buckle. I thought he was a cowboy returning to the USA.
I discovered he was an Australian returning to work on a farm in Alberta, Canada. This was a classic case of misjudgment by appearance.

Good personal hygiene and appearance promote social interaction with others.
The opposite gives a bad impression.
A smile and a positive attitude make a positive impact on others.
Youth may show rebellion by wearing clothes that adults may find inappropriate.
